Cookie Policy
We use a small amount of browser storage to keep login, dashboard, preferences, and cached data working correctly.
What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small files saved to your device when you visit a site. Local storage and session storage work similarly, but they store data directly in your browser instead of in traditional cookies.
Promy mainly relies on browser storage to keep you logged in, remember settings, cache non-sensitive data, and preserve dashboard state between page loads. This policy explains what we store, why we store it, and how you can clear it.
Types of Data We Store
Promy uses browser-based localStorage and sessionStorage to maintain your session, dashboard state, preferences, and cached data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on the site.
Essential Authentication and Access Data
The following keys are used to keep authenticated areas of Promy working:
| Storage Key | Purpose | Expiration |
|---|---|---|
| Stores your main authentication token in browser storage so the dashboard and web configuration pages can recognize your session across page loads. It is primarily stored in local storage and may also be mirrored in session storage in some flows. | Until you log out, the token expires, or you clear browser data | |
| Stores an active login token used across dashboard, analytics, audit logs, partnerships, notifications, and other authenticated pages. It may be stored in local storage and/or session storage depending on the login flow. | Until you log out, the token expires, the browser session ends, or you clear browser data | |
| Temporarily stores an access-denied reason in session storage when you are redirected to Promy's no-access page so the correct message can be shown. | Removed after the no-access page is loaded or when the browser session ends |
Important Information
Without these authentication and access keys, you would not be able to stay signed in or open protected configuration areas of the Promy dashboard.
Dashboard, Preferences, and Feature State
Promy also stores a limited amount of non-sensitive browser data to improve usability and preserve feature state:
| Storage Key | Purpose | Expiration |
|---|---|---|
| Caches non-sensitive dashboard configuration data locally to reduce unnecessary reloads and make the configuration page feel faster. | Until you reset the config, log out, or clear browser data | |
| Remembers whether you checked the option to join the Promy support server during login. | Until you change the setting or clear browser data | |
| Stores the AI description generator cooldown timer for a specific server so the cooldown continues correctly after refresh. | Automatically removed when the cooldown expires, or earlier if you clear browser data | |
| , , | Stores notification panel state for each server, including which notifications you have read, seen, or dismissed. | Until you clear browser data |
| Remembers whether you dismissed the dashboard security announcement so it is not shown again on every visit. | Until you clear browser data | |
| Stores your theme choice on the documentation page. | Until you change the theme or clear browser data | |
| , , , | Caches public Promy network statistics so stat cards and related pages can load faster between refreshes. | Refreshed automatically and reused only for a limited time, or until you clear browser data |
Legacy Cleanup
Promy also clears some older or feature-specific browser keys during logout to prevent stale data from persisting. These cleanup routines help remove outdated dashboard state even if a key is no longer actively used.
Third-Party Services
Promy does not use third-party advertising trackers or marketing analytics scripts on the website. We do not sell your browsing data or share it for advertising purposes.
Discord OAuth2
When you log in to Promy, we use Discord's OAuth2 authentication system. During that authentication flow, Discord may set its own cookies or similar browser data. Please refer to Discord's Privacy Policy for information about Discord's own practices.
Embedded Media
Some public Promy pages, such as the homepage, contain embedded YouTube content. When you load or interact with embedded YouTube video, YouTube may place its own cookies or similar browser data according to Google's policies.
How We Use Stored Data
The browser storage data we use supports the following functions:
- Authenticating your identity and maintaining your login session
- Providing access to your Discord server's Promy configuration
- Remembering preferences and interface state across sessions
- Preserving per-server notification and feature state
- Improving performance by caching non-sensitive configuration and public stats data
- Showing the correct support, access, and security messages when needed
- Helping prevent unauthorized access by maintaining and clearing auth state appropriately
Managing Your Data
You have complete control over the data stored in your browser. Here's how you can manage it:
Clear Local Storage
- Log Out: Clicking the logout button in the Promy dashboard clears authentication tokens and related dashboard storage keys.
- Browser Settings: You can manually clear local storage and session storage through your browser's site-data or developer tools settings.
- Clear Browsing Data: Most browsers let you remove all Promy site data, including cookies, local storage, and session storage, through privacy settings.
Browser Controls
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data → Remove
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data
Note
Clearing your Promy site data may log you out, remove cached dashboard data, reset notification state, clear saved preferences, and require you to sign in again.
Data Security
Promy sends authentication data over HTTPS, and browser storage for Promy can only be read by Promy pages running on the same origin.
We recommend:
- Never sharing your authentication token with anyone
- Using a secure, up-to-date browser
- Logging out from public or shared computers
- Regularly reviewing your browser's privacy settings

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies and local storage.
